Jeff’s Summer Report

As some of you may know, I am a member of WealthCounsel which is an organization of over 1,100 law firms nationwide.  WealthCounsel produces its own Estate Planning documents that have been drafted, reviewed and revised with the input of hundreds of lawyers and other Estate Planning professionals.  WealthCounsel also provides continuing education and practice development courses for the benefit of its members.  I have been privileged to instruct at the several of the educational presentations sponsored by WealthCounsel and I am very grateful for my membership in this organization and for the many ideas and planning strategies I have gleamed from it.

During the week of July 19th, WealthCounsel held its Annual Symposium in Chicago.  There were some terrific educational presentations made and I thoroughly enjoyed the review and cutting edge strategies and ideas that were discussed.  I held a private Reception for over 50 of the members wherein I made a presentation on Asset Protection Planning.  I am very grateful for my membership in WealthCounsel and the great support and assistance we receive from the legal documents that WealthCounsel produces, the educational program it presents and the collegiality I receive from my fellow members.

In June, I presented a Practice Development Seminar for Orange County Certified Public Accountants.  I also did a 90 minute national Webinar for National Business Institute (“NBI”) on the topic of “Corporations, Limited Partnerships and LLCs: The Asset Protection Essentials”.  This past week, I did another NBI national 90 minute Webinar on the topic of “Single Member LLCs And Asset Protection”.  I really enjoy the opportunity of teaching and giving back to the legal profession by means of sharing my experiences and practice know how.

I was able to be with my lovely wife, Susan, at the Chicago WealthCounsel Symposium and on Friday, we took the train from Chicago to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to be with our son, Jeff and his wife and our grandson.  Jeff and his family live in a suburb of Milwaukee where Jeff serves as the Director of Intelligence and Analysis for General Electric Medical Equipment.  GE produces almost half of all of the medical equipment and machinery in the world and Jeff has a terrific job which he loves.  Of course, the best thing he does is  being a good husband, a great father and a terrific son.

This week our son, Brian, who is a Vice President and Sales Director for ING is here visiting from Naperville, a suburb of Chicago, along with his wife and two little boys.  Susan and I are really enjoying their company and feel very blessed.  In another week or two, our daughter, Kristin, and her three children will be visiting from Salt Lake City, so we are looking forward to a lot of adventure with those little grandkids and Kirstin and her husband.  Of course, we are grateful that we have two of our daughters, three grand daughters and a grandson, living here in Orange County along with our youngest son, Brett, who recently graduated from college and is now working full time as an agent for New York Life.

Family means a lot to us and we are very fortunate that our seven children and fifteen grandchildren are such an important part of our lives.  Our grandchildren really love their Grandma and at least tolerate their Grandpa except maybe when he teases too much.

We are very grateful for all of our clients and friends and hope that you are enjoying the Summer as much as we are.  There is a lot of hard work and a busy schedule to fulfill, but, fortunately, there are some fun times to be had with the love of family members.
